Leeds United in hot battle with five Championship teams keeping close tabs to sign Midtjylland striker

According to reports in Spain Cardiff City is one of five Championship clubs monitoring Sory Kaba.

Leeds United, who had previously been linked with the striker, are among the clubs in the second division looking to sign him ahead of the new season, along with Cardiff City and Watford.

However, they may be playing catch-up, as Spanish club UD Las Palmas has already made a bid for the Guinea international.

All that’s missing, the report states, is an agreement between Las Palmas and Saba’s club FC Midtjylland. “The footballer, yes, wants to play in yellow and return to Spain,” the publication continues, with a second offer imminent. Kaba has already represented Elche from 2017 to 2019.

Kaba, who is contracted in Denmark for another season, was a huge hit in south Wales after arriving on loan last January.

He scored eight goals in 17 appearances for the Bluebirds, including a spectacular effort against the Hornets, with supporters taking him to their hearts.

Cardiff’s interest in Kaba is complicated by the fact they cannot, at this stage, pay a fee for any new signing due to the terms of their transfer embargo. To make a permanent acquisition they would have to wait until January when their ban is lifted.

With Kaba’s contract expiring next summer, a loan move would make little sense for Midtjylland.

Since his arrival in Cardiff, new Cardiff manager Erol Bulut has recruited three attackers to his squad: Ike Ugbo, Yakou Meite, and Karlan Grant.

The fates of current forward options Max Watters and Isaak Davies are unknown, with both drawing interest from lower-league clubs.More information can be found here.
