Leeds United winger Dan James missed the 2-0 win against Hull City with a “slight” hamstring injury, according to Adam Pope.
The BBC Radio Leeds commentator said live on air (31 August, 2:34pm) that he understands the Wales international’s issue is only a slight strain, and was hopeful he could make a quick recovery.
James coming out of the side was the only change made ahead of the win against Hull at Elland Road, with Manor Solomon getting an assist on debut following his loan move from Tottenham.
Pope said pre-match: “It’s Manor Solomon who comes in for Dan James, who I understand has a slight hamstring strain, so hopefully we’ll see him quickly after the international break.”
Manor Solomon makes Leeds United mark after injury news
James certainly went under the radar last season as part of a high-flying United front four, finishing as the Whites’ joint second-highest scorer with 13 Championship goals alongside Joel Piroe.
He also netted a breakaway second goal to seal a first win of the new season for Farke’s side at Sheffield Wednesday last time out, with Solomon also providing that game-breaking quality.
The Spurs loanee has had his fair share of injuries throughout his career, but earning a starting spot just four days after his arrival suggests he’s been very impressive in training.
Largie Ramazani, signed five days earlier from Almeria, was on the bench, and Farke’s decision to start Solomon ahead of him implies the 25-year-old has been the best of the bunch at Thorp Arch.
James’ injury, while not a long-term one, seems to have provided the first opening of the door for the Peacocks’ recent arrivals, and the onus is now on Solomon to stake his first-team claim.
