Despite interest from a number of Championship clubs, former Sunderland transfer target Sam Surridge appears poised to leave abroad.
The 24-year-old has one year left on his Nottingham Forest contract after making 20 Premier League appearances, including one start, in 2022/23.
Surridge was on the verge of joining Sunderland in 2019 while playing for Bournemouth, but the deal fell through on the final day of the January transfer window.
Sunderland were said to be interested in Surridge again at the start of this year, but the striker remained at Forest and was still picked to matchday squads.
Championship clubs Leeds United and Ipswich Town have reportedly been following the forward this summer, but he now appears poised to join MLS team Nashville SC.
According to the article, the transaction includes “a number of potential add-ons that could bring the fee closer to £6 million.”
Sunderland are still looking for a striker this summer, with Ross Stewart expected to miss the start of the season due to an Achilles injury.
