According to the Spanish media outlet ‘Fichajes.net,’ Leeds is one of several clubs keeping a close eye on Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz, who could replace Bamford in the summer. The 29-year-old has spent the majority of his career at the Bernabéu Stadium, albeit with their ‘B’ and ‘C’ teams. He joined Lyon in 2017 for €8 million, only for Real to buy him back for three times that amount a year later.
Diaz has six goals in 49 games since his return to Spain in 2018. His five-year contract expires at the end of the season, after which he will be a free agent. West Ham and Nice are also said to be interested in the Dominican international.
“Yorkshire United is another Premier League club looking to add powder to their attack.” They have Rodrigo and Bamford, but the latter has many offers to change the atmosphere and join a club with greater sporting ambitions. If he finally leaves, the English will make a proposal to Mariano, who will arrive with the freedom letter.
Leeds are less predictable and more adaptable under Gracia
This morning, Elland Road journalist Phil Hay published an interesting article in the Athletic, claiming that much of Javi Gracia’s early success is due to adapting tactical changes based on the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition; something his predecessors refused to do!
Bielsa assembles an exciting Leeds squad that will dominate possession at all costs, press deep, and employ a man-to-man marking scheme. The ER faithful were treated to some of the best football the club has ever seen during the Argentine’s tenure. Unfortunately, when Leeds’ flaws were revealed, his refusal to deviate cost him his job.
Much of Marsch’s problems stemmed from his narrow 4-2-2-2 formation. In many ways, his refusal to change strategy, especially when it was clearly not working, cost him his job. One unnamed Leeds player has even stated that the tactical changes implemented by Gracia are’more realistic’ than Marsch’s ‘fixed style.’
