Leeds United making an exacting move to sign £15m Premier League youngster

Taylor Harwood-Bellis is being pursued by Leeds United this summer, with Manchester City willing to let the defender depart for £15 million.

According to a story in The Sun on Sunday (30/7; page 59), West Ham and Fulham are also interested in signing the England under-21 captain.

As the new Championship season approaches, Leeds are reportedly considering a bold move for Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

So far, Daniel Farke has only been able to welcome a few of new recruits. On Saturday, Karl Darlow became the club’s second first-team signing of the transfer window.

There are concerns about the squad’s balance, especially with so many senior players moving on loan this summer.

However, signing Harwood-Bellis would be a major step forward for the Whites. The Sun on Sunday (30/7; page 59) suggests that Leeds, the Hammers, and Marco Silva’s side are all interested in the Manchester City teenager.

Meanwhile, Burnley are unwilling to meet his asking price. The defender spent last season on loan at Turf Moor, when he helped Vincent Kompany’s side win the Championship.

It would be shocking if Leeds spent £15 million for Harwood-Bellis in this transfer window. However, if you have a lot of money to spend, it could be a good long-term investment.

During his time with the Clarets, Kompany described the youngster as “incredible.” And it might bring back memories of the trade that brought Ben White to Elland Road during our previous promotion-winning season.

We were supposed to lament Leeds’ inability to settle on a permanent deal for White. As a result, the new majority owners may believe that matching Manchester City’s demands is a risk worth taking.
