Leeds United have tabled a proposal for Swansea striker Joel Piroe, according to Alan Nixon’s Patreon channel, with the Dutch forward highly connected with a transfer to Elland Road.
Piroe, 24, has made a name for himself since leaving the Netherlands and PSV for Swansea and Wales. In his first two seasons with Swansea, he scored 44 goals in 92 games. He has two goals in four games this season.
Meanwhile, Leeds are in need of a striker. Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph are both sidelined with injuries. Joe Gelhardt and Georginio Rutter are superior in their respective positions. Leeds really need a number nine, and Piroe would be excellent.
The latest report claims that Piroe is the subject of an offer from Leeds. Nixon says that Leeds are willing to spend £15m to sign the Swansea ace, who will see his Swansea deal expire at the end of the season.
Swansea have rebuffed other offers – and while other clubs have walked away, Nixon says Leeds are ‘desperate’ to strike a deal for Piroe. A player described as “outstanding” by Russell Martin last season.
Nixon says Leeds table bid to sign Swansea City striker Piroe
What a signing, if we can get it over the line. A proven Championship goalscorer, one that is still some way away from his prime. Judging by his goals in the second tier – he will score in the Premier League.
Piroe is just what we need and at £15m, he could be a really solid investment for years to come. It is unclear if he is keen to remain in the Championship, but Leeds presents a better shot at promotion.
If Leeds can get a deal done for Piroe, it immediately strengthens our chances of securing an instant return to the Premier League. Hopefully, Nixon’s claims are true and Leeds are willing to spend big.
