Leeds United player ratings in Norwich draw as Wilfried Gnonto shines but defensive duo struggle

Leeds United were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw away at Norwich City after Largie Ramazani’s second half equaliser. Here are our player ratings from Carrow Road.

Illan Meslier – 5

Strange effort to save the penalty but must’ve been anticipating Josh Sargent to go down the middle. His distribution was more of a disappointment throughout.

Jayden Bogle – 7

Found more joy than Junior Firpo did going forward but Norwich were better than Coventry City at stopping him from getting in behind. Coped with Borja Sainz fairly well.

Joe Rodon – 5

Rash challenge to dive in and concede a penalty so early into a game that Leeds had started well in. Did improve as the game went on.

Pascal Struijk – 5

Picked up a silly booking for a pull on the shirt of Sainz and did not look as assured as usual when in possession. Could be a challenge getting him through three games in six days after last week’s injury.

Junior Firpo – 5

Couldn’t really affect the game going forward like he usually likes to do and probably let Ante Crnac come inside too easily in the build up to the penalty.

Ilia Gruev – n/a

Off injured inside 20 minutes and now leaves Leeds very short of numbers in midfield. Hopefully nothing serious.

Ao Tanaka – 7

Undoubtedly the most calm and composed figure in the centre of the field for Leeds. Did not get much help defensively from his substitute partner Joe Rothwell.

Wilfried Gnonto – 8

The only player who really looked like a threat for Leeds and Norwich knew it by sticking several men on him each time. Lovely assist for Largie Ramazani.

Brenden Aaronson – 6

Struggled to get into the game as much as in weeks gone by but did grow into the game as it went on.

Largie Ramazani – 6

Like Aaronson, was no where near as effective as he was against Coventry City on Saturday. However, was a brilliant finish to get Leeds back level.

Mateo Joseph – 6

Starved by a lack of decent service into him and in fairness, another game where those around him haven’t fed him a decent chance.

Subs

Joe Rothwell – 5

Looked a little bit slow and didn’t exactly show an awful lot of urgency to chase back whenever Leeds were under the cosh. Not the best.

Joel Piroe – n/a

Farke’s subs killed Leeds’ momentum in the game.

Patrick Bamford – n/a

See above.

Sam Byram – n/a

Joe Gelhardt – n/a
