According to Fichajes.net, the Whites have entered the race for the 22-year-old Georgian.
Illan Meslier is the current Leeds number one, but he has been linked with moves to Tottenham Hotspur (Football Insider), Chelsea (The Sun), and Manchester United (talkSPORT).
If he leaves, Leeds will be in need of a replacement at Elland Road and may consider a move for Mamardashvili. This season, he has played 31 times for the La Liga club and has established himself as first choice.
According to Fichajes.net, Leeds and Leicester City are interested in signing him. Mamardashvili recently agreed to a one-year extension to his contract at Mestalla, tying him down until 2027.
His contract situation, form, and age have all increased his value, and the report believes that Valencia is prepared to “make significant cash” from his sale.
Valencia are considering selling the goalkeeper for more than €40 million, with a bidding war also possible due to interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
Fichajes refers to the 6’6 goalkeeper as one of the club’s “great stars,” but cites “economic problems” as a reason for the “painful but necessary sale.”
This will only happen if the club sells Meslier, and it will have to be for a large sum.
Mamardashvili is one of Europe’s best young goalkeepers right now, possibly the only one better than Meslier in their age group.
His value will be a stumbling block for the Whites, as it is likely to be similar to what the club could get for Meslier.
If the Frenchman leaves, Leeds will need to replace him, which could be Mamardashvili, especially if Valencia’s financial situation deteriorates.
