A look at the players who are expected to leave Leeds United this summer, as well as those who are unlikely to be released.
Leeds United are still fighting to avoid relegation as the season comes to a close. The Whites sit narrowly above the relegation zone, and their Premier League status is far from assured as they enter the final five games of the season.
Javi Gracia’s men will have to pull out all the stops to avoid relegation for the second season in a row. Meanwhile, we’ve compiled a list of players who are likely to leave Elland Road this summer, as well as a list of players who are likely to stay if the Whites stay up. Take a look at the list below.
1. Diego Llorente
Starting with the departures, Llorente is currently on loan at Roma. He left for personal reasons, and is unlikely to return for the same reasons.
2. Alfie McCalmont
Currently on loan at Carlisle and now 23, it’s unlikely McCalmont has a future at Leeds.
3. Daniel James
James is on loan at Fulham, and it hasn’t worked out for him at Leeds. He could well leave permanently.
4. Ian Poveda
Poveda is with Blackpool on loan, and he looks set to leave permanently
5. Jack Jenkins
Jenkins is on loan with Salford, and now 21 years of age, he is unlikely to have a future at Elland Road if Leeds survive.
6. Stuart McKinstry
McKinstry, who is now on loan with Motherwell, is another player that requires regular football away from Leeds.
7. Helder Costa
Costa is on loan with Valencia, and he is likely to be part of the clear-out.
8. Cody Drameh
Drameh could finally get his permanent move away after some impressive loan spells. Competition is likely to be too great at Elland Road
9. Jamie Shackleton
Now 23, Shackleton needs to move on to get regular football.
10. Tyler Roberts
Roberts has struggled to impress at Leeds in recent seasons, and he appears to have found his level in the Championship.
11. Sam Greenwood
Greenwood is another who needs promises of regular football as he continues to develop.
12. Robin Koch
Koch could be sacrificed as Leeds look to improve defensively.
13. Joel Robles
Robles has found opportunities hard to come by, and his wages are likely to be shifted this summer.
14. Adam Forshaw
Forshaw has struggled with injury this season, and if Leeds are going to strengthen, he is not likely to have a part to play.
15. Wilfried Gnonto
Onto the players who will be staying. If Leeds stay up, Gnonto is a big part of the club’s future.
I agree with Harry Kane…. This season we have faced challenges to score despite having conte as a best manager and I also think that we need good holding as well as attacking midfielders
We also lack defenders and goalkeeper
