Manchester City have made initial contact with Leeds United surrounding a move for teenager Finley Gorman, amid emerging Premier League competition.
The City Football Academy remain in the market for some of England’s hottest teenage talent, having recently completed deals for Harrison Parker and Divine Mukasa from Manchester United and West Ham.
Manchester City won both the Premier League 2 and Under-18’s Premier League title last season, as the Sky Blues’ stronghold on English football extends beyond Pep Guardiola’s high-flying first-team squad.
The CFA recorded a series of major sales during the recent summer transfer window, as Cole Palmer moved to Chelsea for £42.5 million and goalkeeper James Trafford completed a £19 million switch to Burnley.
Shea Charles, Carlos Borges and Tommy Doyle were also amongst the Manchester City academy stars to leave the club.
Academy-graduate Rico Lewis starred for Manchester City during the recent UEFA Champions League victory over RB Leipzig, meanwhile Phil Foden has made over 200 first-team appearances for the Blues.
The CFA are reportedly seeking to further bolster their academy ranks with the signing of Leeds United teenager Finley Gorman.
The 15-year-old midfielder, who has been directly involved in three goals in five U18 Premier League appearances so far this season, is subject to interest from a series of top-flight academies.
Manchester City, who recently contacted Leeds United about Gorman, are front-runners to sign the teenager, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The teenager cannot sign a professional contract until the age of 17, but made his England debut for the Three Lions’ Under-16 side earlier this year.
Etihad chiefs face a battle to sign the teenager however, as Newcastle United are also claimed to be considering a move for the 15-year-old star.
