According to sources, Leeds United have rejected a £15 million approach from Everton for Willy Gnonto’s services.
When he joined at Elland Road from FC Zurich for a bargain price of £3.8 million last summer, the Italian forward made an immediate impact.
The agreement also included a number of add-ons that might raise the ultimate price to as much as £10 million.
Everton’s fondness for Gnonto has been one of the summer window’s best kept secrets, but the tale appears to be nearing to a close.
According to Sky Sports News, Leeds has flatly rejected an official bid of roughly £15 million.
The Yorkshire club has received a number of soft bids this summer, including one from Everton, but they remain firm in their desire for at least £20 million.
Gnonto has played in Leeds’ pre-season games, but has mostly played off the bench and has failed to make an impression.
