Andrea Radrizzani turned to Sam Allardyce to turn this side’s fortunes around at the beginning of May.
The 68-year-old is unlikely to continue in charge at the end of the season, regardless of where Leeds finish.
Leeds, Crystal Palace, and Tottenham are among the clubs still interested in Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, according to The Athletic.
However, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Spurs are closing near on the manager after “positive” conversations this week.
Here are two reasons why Leeds would be significantly disadvantaged if Spurs landed the slot, assuming the Whites stay up…
If Leeds stay in the Premier League, they are unlikely to want to linger in the relegation zone again, and the takeover should result in the necessary investment to put Leeds in a stronger position.
Slot’s management style would undoubtedly be able to tune the Leeds squad, adopting a strong attacking approach with a similar form to how Leeds have built their roster.
His strong counter-pressing style was also seen frequently under previous management at Leeds, but without the constraints of playing narrow or using man-marking sets.
Slot’s Feyenoord have the second-best attack and defense in the Eredivisie this season, contending with bigger sides for the crown.
A more possession-based style would also attempt to improve the likes of Marc Roca, Rasmus Kristensen, and other season strugglers.
Leeds wanted to pay £21 million to sign Luis Sinisterra from Slot’s side last summer because he was superb for the Dutch club.
With five league goals this season, we’ve seen a glimmer of that, and Sinisterra would undoubtedly tell you how essential Slot has been to his growth.
He’s not the only player doing so, with Lutsharel Geertruida, Orkun Kocku, Quentin Timber, Santiago Gimenez, and Igor Paixao all under the age of 23 and excelling under Slot’s tutelage.
With our quality players, that type of management would have been huge at Leeds, and you’d be sure he’d get the most out of them.
