According to journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen, Leeds United want to sign Anderlecht winger Francis Amuzu but will face competition from numerous clubs.
The Belgian journalist says on his personal Twitter account (28 July) that the Whites are competing for the 23-year-old’s signature with Luton Town and OG Nice.
The player is reported to be “high on the wishlist” at Elland Road, and while no firm offer has been made, at least one of the club’s is in the works.
“A boy who can count on the necessary interest and is open to a transfer is Francis Amuzu,” they wrote on their website.
“Francis Amuzu of Anderlecht is high on the wish list of Leeds , Luton Town and OGC Nice.
“There is no concrete offer as of yet, but at least one of the three clubs is preparing one.”
Exciting
The introduction of a wide forward is not something Leeds should prioritize in this transfer window, unless they anticipate a departure or two.
Daniel Farke currently has Wilfried Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville, Jack Harrison, Georginio Rutter, Ian Poveda, and Daniel James available to play wide.
The club is claimed to have “closed the door” on Gnonto’s departure, and Harrison is injured, but the rest are expected to be at the club for the season opener unless something terrible happens.
Amuzu is quick and cunning, and he can play in a high-energy team. At 23, he has plenty of room for development and progress, something Leeds values in a signing.
However, his entrance would almost certainly imply an exit, and fans will be praying that it isn’t one of the better players on the list of previously suggested choices, since they want to strive for promotion.
