I MA LEAVING: Crysencio Summerville drop hot message for Rennes transfer as Leeds United set for intense negotiations

Leeds United are set for “intense” negotiations with Rennes over Crysencio Summerville, according to L’Equipe.

The French outlet reported via their website on 16 July that the Whites winger would not be against following former teammate Glen Kamara to the Ligue 1 side after the midfielder signed the same day.

A deal for the Dutchman is thought to be tough thanks to the presence of transfer interest in England but the French club are looking to further take advantage of Leeds’ failure to gain promotion by signing a second important player.

Summerville has another two years left on his contract at Elland Road and is reportedly worth as little as €20million [£16.8m].

Glen Kamara has signed for Rennes after one Leeds United season

It appears the tempo of Whites departures is only increasing with Kamara’s exit which BBC Sport reported on 16 July was for less than €10m [£8.4m].

It comes as a verbal agreement for Rasmus Kristensen is close with Eintracht Frankfurt [Florian Plettenberg, 16 July] and after Everton reignited their interest from last summer in signing Willy Gnonto [Sky Sports, 15 July].

Marc Roca and Diego Llorente have already moved to Real Betis and now the Spanish side also reportedly want to add Junior Firpo [ABC, 16 July], all in the wake of Archie Gray’s sale to Tottenham.

Fans will be far more bothered by some of those confirmed or prospective exits than others but if the likes of Summerville and Gnonto are still potentially leaving even after a pair of important starters from last term have been sacrificed in Gray and Kamara it is clearly a concern.

Even if all the cash brought in this time around is made available to sign replacements and not required to service money still owed on past deals there is now less than three weeks until the Championship season starts on 10 August.

Failure to secure a top-two finish last term was partly blamed on the upheaval during the early weeks of the season so the last thing Daniel Farke needs is to be contending with the same again this time around.

In other Leeds United news, Adam Pope understands that a possible Whites target really wants to join the club this summer.
