Leeds United are looking to bring in a full-back before Friday’s 11.30pm deadline as Daniel Farke request of four new signings have stalled since the addition of Largie Ramazani.
Farke has made it publicly clear that he wants replacements for Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, as well as a new full-back and a midfielder. Summerville has been replaced by £10m Ramazani.
Rutter has gone to Brighton and came on as a sub as The Seagulls beat Manchester United with a late 2-1 win on Saturday. Manor Solomon is expected to replace him with Leeds sources saying a deal is still on.
That leaves the need for a new full-back and a midfielder to be done before the end of the window and one player linked with Leeds is Max Aarons, who was within a few hours of signing for Leeds last summer.
What Andoni Iraola has said about Max Aarons over weekend
Aarons of course, was the subject of a £12m move from Leeds last summer. But the former Norwich star, who was given his breakthrough at Carrow Road by Farke, opted to join Bournemouth at the last minute.
So much so that Aarons actually sent a message to Farke following his move to Bournemouth. But injury hampered his progress last season, managing just 20 Premier League appearances for the Cherries.
Bournemouth drew 1-1 with Newcastle on Saturday and Aarons was nowhere to be seen. Iraola, who was once linked with Farke’s job after Jesse Marsch’s sacking, commented on Aarons and a potential exit.
“He’s trying to get more minutes. You can be out of the squad and next day you start. I try to prioritise attacking players. I normally don’t go more than two, three defenders on the bench,” Iraola told The Echo.
Leeds not alone in pursuit of right-back Aarons this week
Aarons’ absence from Bournemouth’s squad, along with Jaidon Anthony, has not only placed Leeds on red alert. Indeed, the right-back is also said to be a target for clubs in Italy before the deadline on Friday.
TalkSPORT’s Ian Abrahams reported that two Serie A clubs are showing interest in Aarons. It comes after Southampton had a bid rejected for Aarons earlier in the window, but Farke will be confident of a reunion.
The sticking point will be managing to convince Aarons to drop into the Championship when he could be playing in Italy’s top tier, or win his place back at Bournemouth but Leeds are certainly interested.
