The Israeli outlet reported after the match on 6 September that Solomon was one of several players who “played with great courage” in their UEFA Nations League Group A match.
Sport 5 did note, however, that the game was one of “two completely different halves” with Belgium scoring twice to pull away in the second, with Solomon given a rating of just 5/10 (6 September).
Solomon was given the same 5/10 rating by One News (6 September), who said that the United wideman was starved of service in attacking areas and “often had to come to the middle” to collect the ball.
Manor Solomon shows leadership ability for Israel and Leeds United
Solomon being given the captain’s armband for Israel’s match against a side as full of quality as Belgium, shows that he is capable of taking on additional responsibility on the biggest of stages.
That, therefore, is good news for United boss Daniel Farke, who will be hoping that Solomon can build on his strong debut performance against Hull at Elland Road, in which he assisted Mateo Joseph’s opener.
Signed on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham, Farke needs to get the best out of players like Solomon if he’s to take the Whites back to the Premier League at the second time of asking.
One News noting that Solomon frequently drifted centrally to look for the ball will also be music to the ears of United fans, with this suggesting that the 25-year-old could be used in the number 10 role.
Georginio Rutter’s sale to Brighton has left Farke with a dearth of options in behind his centre-forward, and if Solomon can pop up in central areas with great effect for Leeds, he could prove to be a difference-maker in the promotion battle.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been branded ‘rubbish’ over the Gustavo Hamer transfer controversy.
