Leeds United are interested in signing Nat Phillips from Liverpool.
Leeds’ pursuit of the 26-year-old is thought to be independent of the appointments of their head coach and sporting director.
Despite this, former Borussia Monchengladbach coach Daniel Farke is one of the frontrunners to take over at Elland Road, and the German was interested to sign Phillips while he was in charge of Norwich City.
Liverpool are reportedly seeking up to £10 million ($12.7 million) for Phillips, who is under contract until 2025.
Phillips made only five appearances last season but helped Bournemouth gain promotion from the Championship on loan in the second half of the 2021-22 season — something Leeds will be trying to do after being relegated from the Premier League in May.
Since his debut in 2020, the centre-back has made 29 first-team appearances for Liverpool. He also spent the majority of the 2019-20 season on loan with Stuttgart in the 2. Bundesliga, where he appeared 22 times as they gained promotion.
Leeds United are still looking for a permanent head coach to replace Sam Allardyce, as well as a director of football to replace Victor Orta. They named former reading director of football Nick Hammond as their interim football advisor earlier this month.
