Newcastle United are allegedly interested in signing Watford forward Joao Pedro during the summer transfer window, as the Magpies attempt to bolster their squad for next season.
The Brazilian has been a regular for the Hornets this season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in 32 Championship outings, but with Chris Wilder’s team presently 12th in the table, it appears probable that Watford will be playing second-tier football again next season.
The 21-year-old joined the Hertfordshire outfit from Fluminense in late 2019 and has notched over 100 appearances for the club, helping Watford to automatic promotion to the Premier League during the 2020-21 campaign
Newcastle United have a ‘solid’ interest in the attacker and are planning a summer deal for him, according to Football Insider.
According to the source, the Magpies had a £30 million bid for the player rejected in the summer transfer window but are still keen on bringing him to St James Park ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Pedro signed a long-term contract with Watford in September, keeping him at Vicarage Road until June 2028, but Eddie Howe’s team are keeping a careful eye on his status in the Championship.
