One of the best things about Leeds United at the moment is how it has become a home of exciting young players.
Sometimes, Leeds are forced to pay the price for this positive factor however. At the end of last season, Leeds fans watched on as Archie Gray was snapped up by Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspurs after the club failed to secure promotion.
Making matters worse, Crysencio Summerville was snapped up by West Ham United as the vultures exploited Leeds’ failure to secure promotion to the top flight.
But even without them, Leeds United have impressed this season with young players continuing to impress and be a key part of Daniel Farke’s team. Premier League promotion seems a very real possibility despite the fact many wrote the West Yorkshire club off at the end of last season and their heartbreaking Wembley defeat to Southampton. At the heart of this promotion push, and an overall much healthier club than many younger fans have ever experienced in their life, is a focus on youth which can only be commended. But one young player seems to be struggling at present.
QUIZ: Can you name these 10 Leeds United players from the 2000s?
Leeds United loanee out of form
Players are always sent on loan to build up their form and their experience. But one Leeds United loanee seems to be struggling despite a positive start at his new club.
The player in question is Darko Gyabi, who is plying his trade under a man who won’t be well liked at Elland Road – former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
Gyabi made a good start to his time with Rooney and Plymouth, but his form has hit a brick wall as per Leeds United News and he has struggled in his last two games since the international break.
The local media, namely the Plymouth Herald, were not impressed with the England Under 20s international. He was given a 5/10 as they lost 1-0 to Millwall.
They said: “Darko Gyabi 5 – Was playing at a high level before the recent international break but has not been the same forceful presence in midfield in the two matches since then.
“Would have hoped for better against Millwall because he was born in south-east London and spent three years in the Lions’ academy.”
He will want to get back on track and find his form again, and all Leeds fans will be hoping he can so he can become ready to step up moving forward.
