Paul Merson blast Leeds United man for not having enough energy to face relegation battle

Javi Gracia has ‘no energy’ on the touchline, according to Paul Merson, as Leeds United struggle relegation in the Premier League.

Another game and another crucial week in Leeds’ bid to avoid relegation to the dreaded Championship.

The fans have witnessed their team drop points at home to Leicester City, lose at Fulham, and concede 11 goals in two home matches in recent weeks, which is why Merson believes the fans are turning against Javi Gracia.

With only a few weeks left in the season, the team can do nothing but strive to march forward and rack up as many points as possible.

That starts with a crucial trip to the South Coast on Sunday to face Bournemouth, with Merson praising Gracia, as he told Sky Sports News (29/04/23 at 12:30 pm).

“Yes, I can (understand why some Leeds fans are already turning against Javi Gracia),” Merson remarked. “When you lose six and five at home, you’re up 1-0 against Leicester.”

“When Bielsa arrived, they played in a certain way.” It was gung-ho and moving at 100 kilometers per hour. Every new management has proceeded in the same manner. Nobody has altered it. It’s only going 100 miles per hour. It’s similar to the Everton situation. Everyone sprints here and there.

“If you came in, turned on the TV, and Leeds was playing live, but the scoreboard wasn’t in the corner, you wouldn’t know what the score was.” If they were 3-0 up or 3-0 down. It’s the exact same football.

“The manager has no energy.” I understand that everyone is unique. If I were a Leeds supporter, I wouldn’t look at him and think, ‘Oh, he’s got it. He’s going to inspire us’. He’s a complete slacker. “I believe he is fortunate.”

Leeds sank about 20 years ago and it took them nearly 20 years to recover.
