BBC journalist Adam Pope has claimed that he doesn’t believe that the fans’ poor reaction to the Leeds United defeat to Burnley on Saturday is warranted as there was not much wrong with the overall performance.
Leeds suffered their first league defeat of the season on Saturday when they lost 1-0 to Burnley at Elland Road and dropped down to ninth in the Championship standings after five games.
The Whites are being tipped as one of the automatic promotion contenders but have made a slow start to the season and are sitting outside the playoff spots.
There is already talk of Daniel Farke being under pressure at Elland Road and the Leeds fans have been left angry with how Leeds lost to one of their fellow promotion contenders at home.
The Leeds boss is under pressure to get promotion this season from both the club hierarchy and the fans after last term’s playoff final heartbreak at Wembley.
However, Pope indicated that the collective meltdown of the Leeds fans since the Burnley game is not warranted at this stage of the campaign.

The BBC journalist stressed that the level of performance from Leeds was not bad by any stretch of the imagination and the game could have been different if they had taken their chances.
Pope insisted that while Leeds fans might not want to hear this after Saturday, he feels the collective meltdown that the supporters are displaying since the defeat is not warranted.
“Not great”, he said on the BBC’s Don’t Go to Bed Just Yet podcast.

“Most things right about that performance.
“Things could have changed on a penalty or a missed chance early on and another chance for Gnonto was good too.”
Leeds United will hope to bounce back when they take on a struggling Cardiff City side away from home this weekend.
