Much has been made about Wilfried Gnonto’s future at Leeds United this summer but the Italian looks happy at the moment, and his activity on Mateo Joseph’s Instagram suggests as much.
It was widely believed that Gnonto’s future might depend a lot on Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter. His two closest friends at Leeds, even said to be living with Summerville during their time together.
But Gnonto has remained and even played in the 10 role during an excellent display on Friday night as Leeds picked up their first Championship win of the season, a 2-0 victory away at Sheffield Wednesday.
Joseph was just as good if not better that night, winning the man of the match award as he laid on two assists for Brenden Aaronson and then Dan James, with his pass for James’ goal a moment of genius.
Gnonto teases Joseph on Instagram as striker poses for camera
Spanish striker Joseph has become Leeds’ first-choice option up top this season after a stunning pre-season in which he scores goals against the likes of Hannover, Schalke and then La Liga side Valencia.
He’s yet to score in Leeds’ three Championship games but Joseph has won Farke’s trust and Jermaine Beckford thinks it will only be a matter of time before Joseph starts scoring, earning praise from James.
He hasn’t just been causing a stir on the pitch, but off it too by doing some modelling. Joseph posted some pictures on Instagram and Gnonto teased his teammate, telling him to “stick to the pitch please”.
What are the chances Gnonto leaves Leeds before deadline
It has been claimed that Gnonto’s agents are pushing for n move away from Leeds before the deadline on August 30. But, Leeds have already lost Rutter and Summerville and surely, they won’t allow an exit.
Indeed, The 49ers are said to be blocking a move away from Elland Road for Gnonto. Surely, there has to be a level of excitement on Gnonto’s part if the Italian is moved into the no.10 role moving forward.
Gnonto has become a key player at Leeds and still only 20, he has time on his side. He looks set to stay at Leeds before the deadline on Friday and help the Whites push for promotion at the second attempt.
