Leeds United are likely to be active in the transfer market this summer and might save a significant amount of money through free agency.
Leeds United is currently fighting to escape relegation after two seasons in the Premier League. Javi Gracia, a former Watford manager, was appointed in February and was able to calm the ship with victories over Southampton, Wolves, and Nottingham Forest.
However, after a 5-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace alarm bells are once again ringing for the Whites. Should Gracia be able to guide his team to safety, the Yorkshire-based club will need some serious reinforcements this summer.
Here are eight options the club could consider, including a couple of familiar names.
Raphael Guerreiro:
Guerreiro has previously been linked with Leeds in the January window and would still be a great addition to their back line. With 14 goal contributions from left-back for Dortmund this season
Jonathan Bamba:
With five goals and five assists in Ligue 1 this season, the winger would add some healthy competition to Leeds’ front line
Alex Grimaldo
Similar to Guerreiro, Grimaldo is an attacking full-back who has reached double digits for his goal contributions this season.
Moussa Dembele
With Patrick Bamford struggling for goals, a new out-and-out striker is very much needed in the next window. Dembele has been a proven goalscorer with both Celtic and Lyon, finishing third top scorer in Ligue 1 last season with 21.
Mahmoud Dahoud
Dahoud has fallen out of favor with Dortmund this season and will be looking for a new challenge in the summer. The midfielder, who was linked with Liverpool and Barcelona in the past, is still a quality player with something to show.
Florian Grillitsch
Grillitsch is another who was linked with a move to Yorkshire last summer when he was described as being the perfect Kalvin Phillips replacement
Ben Brereton Diaz
The Chilean international from Stoke had a fantastic start to Blackburn’s Championship campaign. Although his scoring rate has slowed in recent weeks, the forward still has 12 goals to his name. With the 23-year-old seems headed for a move to the Premier League, Leeds might arrange a deal to add some healthy competition for Bamford.
