Troy Deeney slams suggestion of £10m Leeds star replacing England captain Harry Kane

Harry Kane’s last game in the Premier League was scoring a brace against Leeds United at Elland Road on the final day of the 2022/23 season.

The Yorkshire club proceeded to drop into England’s second tier and they are yet to return after another drama-filled 12 months for the club.

Leeds’ play-off final loss to Southampton will still be stinging for the fans, but the team have started to pick up after a rocky opening few matches.

Meanwhile, it has been a mixed time for Kane. He joined Bayern Munich last summer, but somehow, the trophies continued to allude him, even though he broke even more goalscoring records.

On Tuesday night, Kane earned his 100th cap for England and he joins an elite list, including the likes of Wayne Rooney and Bobby Moore, as men who have repped their country that many times.

The Bayern Munich star netted a brace to celebrate after the Three Lions beat Finland, but Kane’s abject performance at Euro 2024 is still fresh in the minds of people.

A list of names were put forward to Troy Deeney as to who could replace Kane in the starting line-up for England, with some odd suggestions.

Jamie Vardy, who is 37 and has retired from national duty, was suggested after he helped Leicester City earn promotion back to the Premier League.
