Two Serie A clubs stand in way of Daniel Farke reunion with ‘outstanding’ £12m man at Leeds

Leeds United’s focus is likely to switch on to adding a new full-back and a midfielder to Daniel Farke’s squad having secured Largie Ramazani, and a deal for Manor Solomon is expected soon.

Farke said recently that he wanted replacements for Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter and in come Ramazani and Solomon. He also said he wanted more cover at full-back, and in central midfield.

Leeds are lacking on options on both sides of the defence. The injury-prone Sam Byram is the only first-team cover for Jayden Bogle and Junior Firpo, and that is likely to see Leeds try to sign a new full-back.

Free agent Michael Lang has been linked but it is now claimed that Leeds are looking to reignite interest in a move to sign Max Aarons, having come close to securing a deal for the flying right-back last summer.

Leeds face competition for Bournemouth defender Max Aarons

Aarons, 24, came close to a move to The Whites last summer but he opted for Bournemouth in the end, instead of a reunion with Farke. The man that brought him in at Norwich from the Canaries academy.

But Leeds are interested in doing a loan for Aarons in the last week of the window, having only managed 20 league games for the Cherries last term. Aarons was left out of Bournemouth’s squad on the weekend.

Described as “outstanding” by former Leeds man Jon Newsome, Aarons could be the man that comes in to provide cover. But it remains to be seen if the £12m Bournemouth star is willing to drop a division.

Now, TalkSPORT reporter Ian Abrahams says Leeds are not alone in the chase to sign Aarons. He says that two Serie A sides are also interested in the full-back and could prove to be too tall an obstacle for Leeds.

Abrahams reported on X: “My sources in Italy say a couple of clubs in Serie A are interested in signing England Under 21 Champion Max Aarons.

“Aarons was the subject of a bid from Premier League club, Southampton at the start of the window & hasn’t featured in either of The Cherries Squads this season.”

Aarons message to Daniel Farke after choosing Bournemouth

Aarons was a matter of hours away from joining Leeds last summer. But Bournemouth made a last-minute move to land the defender and hijacked a transfer taking Aarons from Norwich to Elland Road.

Aarons actually sent a message to his old manager Farke following his decision to sign for Premier League side Bournemouth over Leeds, including: “I want to say the biggest thank you to Daniel Farke.”

But in hindsight, Aarons joining Bournemouth was the wrong move and in the final few days of the window, Leeds may give the defender the chance to put things right by finally moving to Yorkshire.
