Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani was Leeds United’s third wing pairing of the season already at Cardiff City.
Daniel Farke is spoilt for choice in the wide positions but has been forced into making changes due to injuries to both Dan James and Manor Solomon.
Thankfully, all four appear to be top end Championship players and so despite Cardiff being his first ever start in English football, Ramazani did not take long to make an impact.
Tony Dorigo praised Ramazani after opening the scoring for Leeds in South Wales, sprinting past the last line of defence and finishing beyond Jak Alnwick.
Aston Villa star Amadou Onana is predicting big things for Ramazani at Leeds with this hopefully the first of many goals during his time at Elland Road.
Gnonto shares what he saw of Ramazani before Leeds debut
Farke was critical of Leeds’ wastefulness in front of goal after the win at Cardiff. It was certainly a fair point, as Leeds should’ve won by more than just two.
However, Farke did also allude to some over celebrating by his side, putting that down to a lack of experience. Presumably he was talking about Ramazani.
After his goal, Ramazani proceeded to bring out his trademark backflip that was on show many times at his previous club UD Almeria. Leeds fans knew about it, and so did Gnonto.
In the footage that has been seen since of Ramazani’s celebration, Gnonto was also seen hilariously trying to imitate it.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Radio Leeds, Gnonto says he had seen a couple of videos of Ramazani’s celebration before their first start together at Leeds, and wanted to copy it because of how ‘excited’ he was to see him score.
He said: “I was just a bit excited. His celebration is really nice, mine is not as good but I think it was a good moment for him and the team and it’s nice to celebrate moments. I like to celebrate everyone and when I get the chance I try to do as good as I can.
“I saw a couple of videos before so I knew this was his celebration, but I didn’t know if he was going to do it, When he did it I just said I am going to try as well. Thank god no one was that close to me but it was just a funny moment really.”
Gnonto and Ramazani both shone for Leeds vs Cardiff
Assuming Solomon is fit to return against Coventry City at the weekend, Farke has some difficult decisions to make in that front four.
Neil Redfearn hailed Solomon as too good for the Championship after his debut against Hull City, but it would be harsh to drop Ramazani after his goal.
Nancy Froston, meanwhile, believes Gnonto is the undroppable in that Leeds side, so effectively it should be a straight shootout between Ramazani and Solomon.
