Leicester City are set to hold talks over a potential deal for Royal Antwerp midfielder Pierre Dwomoh in the coming days, as per reporter Sacha Tavolieri.
Leicester City are in for a challenging transfer window as they look to strengthen for Premier League football while keeping costs down to avoid further PSR regulation breaches.
The Foxes won the Championship title after their automatic promotion hopes suffered a scare, but they ended up pipping both Ipswich Town and Leeds United to top spot.
They’ll have to be smart with their summer recruitment, and a fresh link has now emerged in reports.
As per journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Leicester City are among the sides pursuing 19-year-old midfielder Pierre Dwomoh, who currently plays in his native Belgium with top-flight side Royal Antwerp.
Luton Town are also admirers of the promising talent, but the Foxes are lining up a €3m (around £2.5m) bid. There are plans in place for talks between Leicester and Dwomoh’s representatives in the coming days and if an agreement is reached there, they could push on for a deal with the club.
As highlighted before, Leicester City are going to have to be clever with their recruitment this summer. Moves for emerging talents like Dwomoh could prove to be smart.
While it’s not ideal signing players unproven at Premier League level, moving for promising prospects with resale value is wise, especially at around £2.5m.
Dwomoh is a player tipped for a bright future too. He’s spent time in the academies of Anderlecht and Gent learning his trade, with a move to Antwerp ultimately bringing him a step up to senior football.
He’s spent this season on loan at RWD Molenbeek, where he’s chipped in with two goals and an assist over 33 games.
Gearing up for the Premier League
Exciting times lay ahead of Leicester City as they embark on Premier League football once more with Enzo Maresca at the helm. With a promising manager and talented players onboard, they’ll be hopeful of finding joy on their top-flight return.
The extent of their PSR punishments remains to be seen though. That could have a big impact on their chances of avoiding an immediate return to the Championship and their transfer business this summer.
Shrewd deals for youngsters like Dwomoh could be a clever way for the Foxes to future proof themselves and secure assets for the future.
With Luton Town also keen though, time will tell if an agreement can be reached with talks poised to take place in the coming days.
