Leicester City still has business to do before the transfer window closes in a matter of days.
Enzo Maresca has been revamping his squad throughout summer, bringing in six new players. The following players have arrived at the King Power Stadium: Harry Winks, Conor Coady, Callum Doyle, Mads Hermansen, Stephy Mavididi, and Casare Casadei.
Five players have made their debuts for the club, with just Coady missing out due to injury. The defender is set to return in September.
That may not be the case of arrivals though, with Maresca keen to add further to his squad before the deadline on September 1. One name who continues to be linked with City is Galatasaray winger Yunus Akgun.
Wide areas are areas where City need more depth. With that in mind here is a look at everything that has been said about a possible move for the Turkey international.
Talks ‘accelerated’
Reports in Turkey on August 16 claimed that City had ‘accelerated’ talks with Galatasaray for the winger. It was earlier claimed that City were one of three clubs to have made an offer for the player this summer, alongside Nantes and Bordeaux.
‘Agreement’ reached
A week after it was claimed that talks had been increased, it was reported in Turkey that an ‘agreement’ had been reached between City and Galatasaray over the transfer. It is said that Akgun will join on loan but with a mandatory purchase clause of €10 million (£8.5m).
It is also said that the player himself has agreed a five year deal with the club.
Galatasaray plan
Amid reports over an agreement, City fans noticed that Akgun had still travelled with his Galatasaray teammates to Norway. The Turkish club take on Molde in the first leg of their Champions League play-off on Wednesday night.
Turkish journalist Yakup Cinar has said: “Yunus Akgün will start Molde in the starting lineup. The player will be transferred to Leicester City after tomorrow’s game.”
Other reports suggest that the player will say goodbye to his teammates after the game against Molde before completing his transfer to City ‘within the week’.
Chelsea and former City player impact
Galatasaray may be open to letting Akgun go this summer, due to the arrival of former City man Tete. After leaving City this summer, following a six-month spell at the King Power Stadium, the Brazilian completed a move to Galatasaray.
He has also been joined by Chelsea man Hakim Ziyech, who arrived on loan with the Turkish club at the weekend.
