Leicester City’s victory over Bournemouth could be a “huge moment” in the club’s and Steve Cooper’s season, former England captain Alan Shearer.

City claimed their maiden win of the season on Saturday to lift the mood after a difficult start to the campaign, and to lift the club away from the relegation zone. For earning his first lot of three points as the club’s manager, Cooper was named as the boss for Shearer’s Premier League team of the week.

Cooper has been the subject of grumbles and moans from the stands during his time in charge at the King Power Stadium so getting a win on the board will ease pressure. Shearer feels it could be significant.

The former striker said: “He (Cooper) will be relieved to have finally tasted victory for the first time as Leicester manager. It could be a huge moment in their season.”

Unsurprisingly, Facundo Buonanotte also made the team. He dazzled with his dribbling ability and scored the game’s only goal with a delightful piece of skill and well-struck shot. Shearer said of the Argentinian: “The Foxes needed something special to secure their victory and it came thanks to Buonanotte’s emphatic finish.”
