Arsenal push for a swap deal as premier league leaders press high to sign Tielemans

According to transfer insider Dean Jones, Arsenal is still interested in signing Premier League duo Youri Tielemans and Ruben Neves in the coming months.

The Premier League leaders have been active in the transfer market, having already added Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior to their squad in order to maintain their momentum for the remainder of the season.

Following Mohammad Elneny’s injury, Mikel Arteta recently revealed that the Gunners haven’t finished their transfer business and are looking to make a late swoop for a new midfielder before next week’s deadline.

Arsenal has been linked with a number of engine room reinforcements, with Tielemans and Neves reportedly long-term targets. However, it appeared that the north London club had recently cooled its interest in the Premier League duo and was looking into other options.

However, in an interview with GiveMeSport, Jones stated that Arsenal has not ruled out signing Tielemans or Neves and that both remain on the Spanish manager’s wishlist. And Arteta’s team may step up their efforts to sign either of them before the deadline next week or in the summer.

Tielemans, who is worth around £35 million according to Transfermarkt, has entered the final six months of his current contract and has turned down an extension offer. As a result, he could leave the King Power Stadium this month for a reduced fee or for free at the end of the season.

Neves, on the other hand, appeared to be on his way out of Molineux Stadium, and it appeared he said his goodbyes to the fans at the end of last season. However, a deal did not materialize last summer, and he ended up staying at Wolves.

The midfielder, who is worth around £35 million according to Transfermarkt, has only 18 months left on his current contract and has yet to sign a renewal. So, if Julen Lopetegui’s side is unable to persuade the Portuguese to sign a new contract soon, they may be forced to cash in on him in the coming months before his value drops.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal makes a formal offer for Tielemans or Neves in January. Both have proven their worth in the Premier League with their respective clubs and would be excellent additions to Arteta‘s squad if a deal could be reached before next week’s deadline.
