BREAKIGN NEWS: Gary Lineker shares shocking honest Leicester City verdict after Fulham defeat

Leicester City suffered their first defeat of the Premier League season on Saturday afternoon.

The Foxes were hoping to build on their solid start to the campaign when they travelled to Fulham over the weekend.

Leicester City drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur in their opening clash of the campaign after Jamie Vardy cancelled out Pedro Porro’s first-half opener.

Steve Cooper named an unchanged starting eleven for the trip to Craven Cottage on Saturday, likely expecting a similar result to the one earlier in the week.

However, the Leicester boss made a key mistake vs Fulham, which ultimately cost his side any chance of securing their first win of the campaign.

Leicester dropped their 4-2-3-1 formation used against Tottenham, instead opting to switch to a back-five against Marco Silva’s men.

This allowed Fulham plenty of room to attack through the middle while the Foxes’ wingbacks also struggled.

New signing Emile Smith Rowe gave Leicester the lead after 18 minutes on Saturday afternoon.

Wout Foes did pull one back for Leicester shortly before the break but Alex Iwobi netted a winner for the home outfit with 20 minutes to play.

It was a concerning performance from Cooper’s men and former Leicester star Gary Lineker has now given his verdict on the match.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker expressed his concern at how deep Leicester have been sitting in their opening two games of 2024/25.

He said: “I’ve got to talk about Leicester. I’m a little bit worried, although they’re not shipping goals, they could have conceded a lot against Spurs.

“But they’ve kind of been playing very deep,  trying to counter-attack. I thought Fulham thoroughly deserved their victory, they were much the better side so slightly worried about my team.”
