N’Golo Kante is one of the greatest players to ever feature for Leicester City but his replacement really didn’t work out.
Leicester City, just one season after a relegation battle, won their first and only Premier League title in 2015/16.
The Foxes fended off the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City to make history and alongside Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, N’Golo Kante was crucial to their success.
Vardy broke a Premier League record during that season and often gets a lot of the glory for the goals he scored.
However, Kante’s efforts were arguably just as important, featuring in 37 of their 38 league outings that term – missing one match due a hamstring problem.
After the Frenchamn’s starring role for Leicester, he was promptly snapped up by Chelsea, who he also won the Premier League with.
Former Leicester City player Daniel Amartey still without a club
During their title-winning season, Leicester signed Daniel Amartey from Danish side FC Copenhagen for a fee Sky Sports News reported to be around the £3.5m mark.
As was to be expected given the competition in front of him, the defensive midfielder, who now largely plays as a centre-back, only featured five times in the Premier League in 2015/16 for a total of 102 minutes.
But once Kante had departed for Chelsea, Amartey was given a more prominent role at Leicester, though it never really worked out.
He started 22 league matches as a defensive midfielder in 2016/17 as the Foxes slumped from league champions to a 12th-place finish.
Amartey eventually left the Midlands in 2023 after what was a fairly disappointing stint that never saw him cemented as a regular feature.

The Ghana international went on the play 27 times for Besiktas but was released as a free agent on September 13th, 2024, and remains without a new club.
What is N’Golo Kante doing now
While Amartey is still without a team following a rough spell post-Leicester, Kante continues to thrive at 33.
The midfielder left Chelsea in 2023 to link up with Saudi side Al-Ittihad on a free transfer.
Kante has so far made 64 appearances for his current team, in which he’s scored six and assisted eight.
Playing alongside the likes of Karim Benzema, Fabinho and Moussa Diaby, the ex-Leicester man’s side top the Saudi Pro League by four points and have lost just twice all season.
