Wilfred Ndidi, Abdul Fatawu, Boubakary Soumare, Ben Nelson, and Wanya Marcal all have different shirt numbers from before, with just one from the starting line-up left empty
Leicester City have confirmed their squad numbers for the new Premier League season, with 29 players listed in the first team.
All but one of the first 11 shirts are filled after a couple of changes. Wilfred Ndidi has ditched the no.25 shirt he’s worn since joining City in 2017 in order to take over as the no.6, while Abdul Fatawu will wear the no.7 following his permanent arrival, having been no.18 during his loan spell.
New defender Caleb Okoli will be the new no.5, leaving just the no.11 shirt free from the ‘first team’ numbers. The shirt is vacant following Marc Albrighton’s departure in the summer.
Elsewhere, newest signing Facundo Buonanotte will wear the no.40 shirt he donned at Brighton, while Bobby De Cordova-Reid takes from Kelechi Iheanacho in the no.14 shirt. Rounding off the new signings, Michael Golding will wear the no.34 jersey.
Ndidi and Fatawu were not the only players to change their numbers. Boubakary Soumare has returned to the club from his loan and has swapped no.42 for no.24. Ben Nelson and Wanya Marcal have upgraded their numbers and are now no.26 and no.27 respectively.
There’s an indication that Will Alves and Sammy Braybrooke are seen as first-team players, with both of their squad numbers listed. Alves is no.37, with Braybrooke no.44.
For potential new signing Adam Hlozek, neither the no.23 he wears at Bayer Leverkusen nor the no.20 he wore for Sparta Prague are free, meaning he would need to pick a new number.
