Leicester City put in a pitiful display against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
Leicester were beaten convincingly by a below-par Man United side at Old Trafford, leaving them in 15th place.
Position | Team | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | For | Against | Diff | Points |
13 | Manchester United | 10 | 3 | 3 | 4 | 9 | 12 | -3 | 12 |
14 | West Ham | 11 | 3 | 3 | 5 | 13 | 19 | -6 | 12 |
15 | Leicester | 10 | 2 | 4 | 4 | 14 | 18 | -4 | 10 |
16 | Everton | 11 | 2 | 4 | 5 | 10 | 17 | -7 | 10 |
17 | Crystal Palace | 11 | 1 | 4 | 6 | 8 | 15 | -7 | 7 |
The Foxes were disjointed and unbalanced, which has been a common theme during Steve Cooper’s short tenure.
Defensive errors were again on show and going forward, they created very little against an out-of-form United side.
With that said, Leicester supporters had just one thing to say about Cooper after the bitterly disappointing defeat.
Leicester fans want Steve Cooper sacked after Man United defeat
Leicester fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) after the Man United defeat to voice their frustration at the performance.
And, there was a common theme, with many calling for Cooper to be sacked ahead of the international break.
“Now it’s time, after all this so far this season there is no clearer sign than to sack our manager now. Steve Cooper is driving Leicester to into the ground,” @JackWhitman_7 said.
@RFox55_ said: “No structure, no creativity, relying on moments to scrape points. Steve Cooper has been here 5 months, no idea of what football he’s trying to play and we look back to Rodgers 22/23 mentality. International break, time to pull the trigger on Clueless Cooper.”
@andyh1884 added: “Cooper out. I don’t know/care what the alternative is, but we are currently employing someone who fundamentally is not good enough to manage a Premier League side & if we have any aspirations whatsoever of remaining one, he has to go & soon. But we can’t afford to get rid.”
@ciarandurham posted: “Time to go for Cooper – definitely out of his depth but 100% let down by players lack of interest and individual errors. Who next? I think it’s tough to see anyone above Moyes.”
“8 goals conceded against an interim manager. Zero tactical identity. Zero hope. Clueless #CooperOut,” @JoseeephF1 said.
@sparky__26 said: “Disgrace, get him gone asap didn’t expect a win but to not even put a shift in is unforgivable. 2 weeks to get someone else in. Cooper will never work.”
Leicester should try to appoint Graham Potter
If Cooper is sacked, Graham Potter would be the ideal successor as his possession-based style would really suit the current squad.
It’s become evident that after a year under Enzo Maresca, the players are desperate to return to that methodology.
Potter, who is available, is also brilliant at overseeing a project and that’s exactly what City need if they’re to return to their past glories.
A telling few days lie ahead at the King Power Stadium.
