BREAKING NEWS: Leicester points deduction chances increase as fox roll in foolish error

It will be “foolish” of Leicester City if they do not cooperate with the Premier League over their PSR breach as it could save them an additional three points.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that Nottingham Forest’s case revealed that cooperation and early admission can be worth two or three points.

Leicester were charged in March with a breach of the Profit and Sustainability Rules after posting losses of £90million in their 2022-23 accounts.

The Foxes now face a points deduction for the 2024-25 Premier League season after their Championship-winning campaign.

The Daily Mail report that Leicester’s case could now continue beyond the start of the season.

Leicester City could save three points with PSR cooperation

However, Borson explained that it is in the club’s best interests to cooperate and settle the case early as they could take three points off the final verdict.

If the Leicester case is dragged out then they are at risk of losing the biggest part of the mitigation that’s available,” Borson told Football Insider.

“If you are in breach of PSR, the real prize is to make sure that you get the mitigation of an early admission and cooperation as we have seen it is worth two to three points.

“So Leicester would be very, very foolish to throw that away.

“It would be much better to cooperate in the way that was described in Nottingham Forest’s case – get the mitigation then do some kind of deal.“
