BREAKING NEWS: Steve Cooper sent shocking Jamie Vardy message as new Leicester City striker on transfer agenda

Latest Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive as Robert Huth discusses Jamie Vardy and his former club

Leicester City could not wish for a better “impact” striker than Jamie Vardy, says his former Foxes teammate Robert Huth.

Vardy is preparing for another assault on the Premier League, after signing a new one-year contract at the King Power Stadium this summer in the wake of the club’s promotion. But Huth does not think Vardy – now 37 – will be new manager Steve Cooper’s attacking spearhead in every game when the new season kicks off.

A new striker is likely to be high on Cooper’s transfer wish list after taking charge of the club this week, ahead of the season, with Vardy and Patson Daka the only senior strikers currently at the club.

“I think that could be a fair statement (that Vardy won’t expect to start every game),” said Huth. “But at the moment, it’s only Vardy and one other striker that we have.

“We are looking for other strikers as well. So depending on who we get in, that could have a big impact.”

“However, if we do need a goal with 10 or 15 minutes to go I couldn’t wish for a better player to come on because he’s an impact player, that’s for sure,” he added, speaking to Gambling.com.
