Jannik Vestergaard of Leicester City has made three appearances in all competitions this season, all of which have come in cup competitions.
Brendan Rodgers does not like the Danish international, and the manager has not given him an explanation for his absence.
Earlier this month, the 30-year-old told Ekstra Bladet that he has been left out in the cold at Leicester and that the coach’s treatment of him is “strange.”
The centre-back has not played for the Foxes since this interview, and according to reports in the UK, he is being forced to train alone.
Tipsbladet confirms this, stating that the Dane has been “told to stay away” from the squad.
This’message’ is said to have come from Brendan Rodgers himself, as the manager does not want the former Southampton man training with the rest of the team.
Vestergaard is receiving this treatment for a very specific reason: his interview with Ekstra Bladet earlier this month.
Vestergaard’s contract expires in June, and unless something drastic changes, he will be a free agent in the summer.
