Leicester ended their run of defeats with a point from Harvey Barnes in a 1-1 Premier League draw at Brentford.
The Foxes were on the verge of a sixth consecutive defeat in all competitions, a run that has seen them slip into the Premier League relegation zone, when Mathias Jensen fired Brentford ahead.
Barnes, on the other hand, showed the Bees’ defense a clean pair of heels by racing away to score a fine second-half equalizer.
Barnes’ goal denied Brentford manager Thomas Frank his 100th victory, but they did extend their unbeaten home run to ten games.
Under-pressure Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers took a risk by replacing goalkeeper Danny Ward with Daniel Iversen, but his wait for his first clean sheet since the World Cup break continues.
Iverson, making his Premier League debut, had to deal with Yoane Wissa’s drive before Bryan Mbeumo headed Rico Henry’s cross wide.
Leicester were jittery at the back but still posed a threat in attack, with Barnes curling a shot inches wide of the far post.
Patson Daka headed Ricardo Pereira’s cross wide and then blazed over after Ethan Pinnock blocked his own header.
But the Bees are full of confidence in front of their own fans, and when Henry’s deep cross found Mbeumo, he took a touch before curling a shot just wide.
Then Ivan Toney, called up by England this week, was played in by Ben Mee’s clever ball, but Daniel Amartey tracked his run and deflected the shot wide.
Amartey could only half-clear Mbeumo‘s ball across the six-yard box from the corner, and Jensen lashed it back into the net for his fourth goal in five home appearances.
Leicester complained that four Brentford players were in an offside position when the initial ball was delivered, but the goal was upheld.
Barnes sprinted on to James Maddison’s through ball, burst between Pinnock and Mee, and calmly lifted his finish over Bees keeper David Raya seven minutes after half-time.
When Barnes charged through again, the Spaniard came out of his area only to fluff his clearance, but he was able to recover and clear the danger.
Brentford‘s afternoon came to an end in stoppage time when substitute Shandon Baptiste was sent off for a nasty lunge on Kieran Dewsbury-Hall.
