CONCLUSION: Leicester City were set for seven-point deduction

Leicester City were set for a seven-point deduction by the Premier League before the club found a legal loophole, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the situation is being seen as a “big win” for the Foxes.

An independent panel ruled in their favour, stopping the Premier League from taking action against them for breaching PSR rules.

The club’s legal team found a loophole that ensured they would avoid the deduction, which was set to be seven points.

Three of those points were for breaking the rules, and the club would have received a one-point deduction per £6.5million.

The breach was £24.4million, but the club have managed to escape any form of punishment on this occasion.

Leicester City’s loophole was an embarrassing moment for the Premier League

Although the situation was positive for the Foxes, it is being viewed as an “embarrassing look” for the Premier League.

Sources revealed to Football Insider that the Premier League might have to go around and change the wording of their rulings because of this.

The situation is being seen as a big defeat for the league, and they now need to get the rules right so no more loopholes can be found moving forward.

Despite avoiding this particular punishment, there could still be point deductions coming Leicester’s way in the future.
