Leeds United eased to a comfortable 3-0 win over Coventry City at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon as The Whites secured a fourth Championship win of the campaign.
Ahead of a busy week of action for Daniel Farke’s men in which Leeds are in action three times in six days, The Whites got off to a perfect start with a win and a clean sheet over a side they failed to beat last term.
Leeds could only draw 1-1 at Elland Road last season before losing 2-1 to the FA Cup semi-finslists. But goals from Wilfried Gnonto, Jayden Bogle and Joel Piroe saw Leeds make it two wins in a row yesterday.
Leeds have climbed into fifth place and are showing no signs of slowing down in England’s second tier, picking up five clean sheets in their seven league games. Just one goal conceded in the last six games.
With Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter leaving the club, Gnonto is being looked at as the man capable of supplying that main-man aura in manager Daniel Farke’s side and on Saturday he did that

It was a gorgeous goal. A beautiful first-time finish into the top corner after a superb cut-back from Junior Firpo. With that pass, Firpo ended a 23-year title held by Ian Harte as a Leeds defender to reach 10 assists.
Gnonto’s second goal took his tally to 15 goals in what was his 80th outing for The Whites, also laying on eight assists in that time. He underlined his delight with a post on Instagram as he continues to shine.
Daniel Farke said that he is trying to make Gnonto “more flexible” in attack, in order to replace the losses of Rutter and Summerville. He did just that on Saturday, in a weekend where Rutter scored for Brighton.
Crysencio Summerville makes exciting Wilfried Gnonto prediction
The new West Ham ace is yet to alight the Premier League in claret and blue since his £34m move to the London Stadium. But he clearly still has an eye on all things Leeds after his exit, and his best mate Gnonto.
Summerville was among the players to respond, posting a four-word message “your time my boy”. Leeds youngster James Debayo also commented as did Italian stars Davide Frattesi and Giorgio Scalvini.
With Summerville and Rutter now gone, that mantle has to be taken over and the lack of no.10 signing means Gnonto needs to step up alongside the returning Brenden Aaronson, and they certainly are.
Gnonto spoke of his relationship with Aaronson after the match and it is clear the duo are excelling on the pitch while forming a friendship off of it. The duo have what it takes to lure Leeds to promotion.
