Leicester City star Kelechi Iheanacho is out of contract at the end of the season which has put Champions League finalists Internazionale on high alert, according to reports.
The Nigeria international joined the Foxes from Manchester City in 2017 for £25 million after struggling for minutes under Pep Guardiola. However, according to Football Insider, Leicester were prepared to ask for between £10-15 million for Iheanacho during the summer.
Now, the former Premier League champions risk losing the centre-forward on a free transfer at the end of the campaign which has notified numerous clubs in Europe, including Inter.
Italian outlet FC Inter News are claiming that the Nerazzurri are keen to bolster their attacking department this summer and Iheanacho is on the club’s list since he may be available for free in eight months should he refuse to sign a new deal to remain at the King Power Stadium.
Nevertheless, FC Inter News have also revealed that numerous assessments will need to be done on the player and so nothing is set in stone right now.
Several clubs in England’s top tier were keen to secure the services of Iheanacho during the summer window for the lowly price tag of between £10-15 million. Football Insider reported that Everton were among these suitors while The Daily Mail claimed that Crystal Palace were another interested party.
Iheanacho has scored five goals already this season under new head coach Enzo Maresca as Leicester City have cruised to the top of the Championship, hoping to earn promotion back to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

It’s not a surprise that Iheanacho is being linked with moves to some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Even if the Nigerian acts as a backup option, he will still bag a couple of goals per season as proven from his time with Leicester City.
However, the Foxes will have made a £25 million loss on the player should he leave for nothing which is a big blow to the club.
