Leicester City are set to make Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku’s move a permanent one.
This comes after the English club decided to trigger his €17 million buy option having spent the 2023/24 season on loan at the club from Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon.
The 20-year-old attacker played an integral role in the Foxes’ quick return to the English Premier League as they won the English Championship.
“We will make money,” Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim said according to Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano.
“Talented players who don’t adapt here will move to other clubs and give us added value, it’s our system.”
Issahaku has netted seven goals and provided 13 assists for Leicester and he has been named the club’s Best Young Player.
He is expected to be part of the Ghana squad that will face Mali and Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June 2024.
