DONE DEAL: Officially confirmed as Leicester City look to the future as star youngster signs new contract

Latest Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive as Will Alves commits himself to club for the next four years

One of Leicester City’s most talented youngsters has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract.

Will Alves, the 19-year-old attacking midfielder, has penned a new four-year deal at the King Power Stadium, and vowed to continue working hard to realise his undoubted potential.

His progress has been hampered by injury, but he is now fit and firing – and pushing for a place in Steve Cooper’s first-team squad. He told the club website: “It’s a great feeling. Another four years here, where I’ve been for my whole life. I couldn’t really see myself being anywhere else but here.
“Going through what I’ve been through, getting past that and all the hard work and determination that I’ve shown to get back, it’s made me tougher, and I just want to keep working and not take it for granted.”

Alves, who joined the Foxes at under-nines level, made his senior debut at the age of 16 in January 2022, coming on as a substitute in a 4-1 FA Cup victory over Watford at the King Power Stadium.

A Leicester City statement added: “His 2022/23 campaign was interrupted by injury, but the youngster made his return to action in an EFL Trophy clash at Fleetwood Town in November 2023 and has gone from strength to strength with a series of impressive displays since.”

A Foxes supporter and former season ticket-holder, Alves added: “Learning from all the different players here has been great for me, I couldn’t be in a better position. Being able to play with the players that I have been watching and being a Leicester fan and having this opportunity, it’s unbelievable.

“I just want to keep going, keep working hard throughout these next few years and hopefully get more chances soon with the First Team.

“I want to be playing as much First Team football as possible, trying to get some minutes. That’s the main thing for me, trying to play men’s football, that’s where I’ll learn best.”
