On the eve of the Championship season, Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca made an intriguing disclosure.
As with most sides relegated from the Premier League, clubs immediately began to circle for their finest players and then moved on.
For example, James Maddison was transferred to Tottenham Hotspur, while Harvey Barnes joined Newcastle United.
While it was never conceivable for huge talents like them to stay, Leicester still has Premier League level players in their team as they begin their Championship campaign.
Following Enzo Maresca’s recent revelation, this could be attributed to his presence at the club and the methods he employs.
Enzo Maresca’s Leicester City transfer revelation
Maresca has discussed the task he faced upon his arrival at the club this summer ahead of the Foxes’ Championship meeting with Coventry City on Sunday.
The Foxes manager, on the other hand, believes a new attitude at the club has motivated his players, disclosing that six players at Leicester have reversed their choice to leave after working with him.
“There are six players who came to my office to say’my intention was to leave the club in the summer, but now I would like to stay because I enjoy the idea and enjoy the day by day,” Maresca told The Athletic.
So this is the only thing I can say, that six players they come to my office and they tell me that.
“It’s a good thing for me. But the guy that goes on the pitch is the player, so they have to be happy. If they are happy with us, I’m happy too.”
Maresca did emphasize, however, that any players who were still dissatisfied with their situation at the King Power Stadium were free to leave.
But if any of them choose to leave, you can’t strive to keep them if their purpose is to leave,” the Leicester box continued.
“I usually say the same thing. When I first met with the club, I informed them that if some players wanted to go, they could.
“I don’t want players who don’t want to stay, and we do everything we can to keep them.” Because, in the end, if they wish to stay, they must be certain.”
