Fans in shock as wife celebrate £22m star transfer situation as long time negotiation

Stefano Sensi was ‘super excited’ to join Leicester City but a deal between Inter Milan and Enzo Maresca’s Championship leaders collapsed after both clubs failed to agree terms.

HITC Football were informed in the middle of the January transfer window that, after Chelsea opted to recall Cesare Casadei from his loan spell at the King Power, Leicester City were hoping to seal a deal that would see a far more experienced player take his place.

Stefano Sensi, a Serie A champion under Antonio Conte and a man who set Inter back a cool £22 million, quickly emerged as Leicester’s leading January target, Maresca making no secret of his admiration for his fellow Italian.

“I like Stefano,” Maresca told Leicester Mercury. “He’s a good player who can play in different positions. But he’s not our player.”

And he never would be. At least, not yet

Leicester City’s Stefano Sensi deal collapses

The Athletic report that Sensi even underwent medical tests and signed terms after flying to London. The deal collapsed, however, with Leicester concerned about breaching the EFL’s ‘profit and sustainability’ rules, per The Athletic.

Sensi is now destined to gather dust on the Nerazzuri bench until the window opens again in the summer.

“Mentally, but also physically, we were already there! It would have been a wonderful opportunity for Stefano,” Sensi’s wife, Giulia, explains on Instagram, via Tuttomercatoweb.

“We were super excited, also to be able to raise the children there. We couldn’t wait but it didn’t happen one step away (from the deal being completed) due to the lack of agreement between the two companies.

“I am truly very sorry because I know the effort, commitment and love that Stefano dedicates to his work every day. But June is around the corner. And I hope with all my heart that a special opportunity may arise for him.”

Serie A star stuck at Inter Milan

The Athletic believe that a failure to agree terms with Brighton and Hove Albion regarding Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was a big factor in the Sensi deal collapsing.

That will not come as too much of a disappointment to the Leicester supporters, however, with Dewsbury-Hall the stand-out performer in a team full of players in the form of their lives.
