With confidence and hope, the Nigeria international departs the English Premier League and prepares for the next chapter.

According to Soccernet.ng, Leicester City Women have announced that Ashleigh Plumptre, the talented defender, has bid farewell to the club following the expiration of her contract at the prestigious King Power Stadium.

Plumptre joined the club in 2020, coming from the University of Southern California’s USC Trojans.

She began a promising future with LCFC Women after completing her Human Biology degree.

During the 2022/23 season, the 25-year-old showed off her skills on the field, appearing in 23 different contests.

Notably, Plumptre was a key contributor to the team’s victory in the Barclays Women’s Championship in 2021.

During the club’s first two seasons in the women’s top flight, she was a key character, showcasing her dedication and talent.

Plumptre proudly wore the City blue jersey during her time with LCFC Women, appearing in 79 matches.

Plumptre is currently in the Nigerian camp, undergoing tough training for the forthcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which begins later this month.

After switching from England to Nigeria in 2021, the versatile defender represented the Super Falcons in the 2022 CAF Women Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Despite finishing fourth without a medal, Plumptre is determined to have a more rewarding experience this time around.

Nigeria’s next World Cup matchups against Canada, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland give her with an opportunity to shine on a global platform.
