Fans in tears as Leicester City released list of three key stars to miss hot class vs Sunderland

Leicester City suffered three defeats on the spin for the first time this season, losing to relegation threatened QPR at the King Power on Saturday afternoon.

Defeats to promotion-chasing Leeds United and play-off chasing Middlesbrough is one thing, but defeat at home to QPR will be a big concern for manager Maresca.

What makes matters worse is the injury concerns regarding first-team duo Pereira and Praet. The former missed the Championship fixture at the weekend, whilst Praet was substituted after just 16 minutes after picking up an injury.

Speaking to Leicestershire Live, Maresca provided an update on the pair. stating that both are indeed injured and could be set for a spell on the sidelines.

“Ricardo is injured and he will be out until after the international break,” he said.

“Dennis is injured again. I was a midfielder. Probably on Tuesday [against Sunderland] I can play half an hour, 45 minutes, because in this moment we have just Harry Winks, Kiernan, and Yunus.”

Need to get back to winning ways

The Leicester City boss shouldn’t be using injuries as an excuse at this stage in the season. Of course it doesn’t help matters but the Foxes have one of, if not the best squad in the entire division.

Praet hasn’t been a regular in the first-team fold all too often until recently and so they should have enough to get by without him. Pereira has been captain however, but they should still have players in reserve to fill the void over the next few weeks.

It will come as a blow to Maresca’s side given how importantly they need to get back to winning ways. Three defeats in a row is damaging for any side in any division, but they desperately need results, and having both players out of action will prove difficult to deal with.
