Harvey Barnes bitterly sorry for Leicester City and there Championship claim

The club’s top scorer concluded the season, but he wanted to apologize for City’s relegation to the Championship, feeling they should be in the Premier League.

Harvey Barnes says he is “personally very sorry” for Leicester City’s relegation and believes the club does not belong in the Championship.

The winger is the latest City player to speak out over the club’s relegation to the second tier, expressing sadness for disappointing paying fans. He believes that City should “always be doing well in the Premier League.”

Barnes finished as City’s leading scorer, with a personal best 13 Premier League goals, although there were times when he looked out of sorts, most notably the 2-0 loss at Nottingham Forest in January.

The 25-year-old is expected to be sold as one of City’s two most valuable assets this summer. Selling the homegrown winger and James Maddison would provide City with a sizable sum of money with which to rebuild their squad.

“If I’m honest, I don’t really know how to start this post,” Barnes wrote on social media. It’s been a week, and the pain is still present. We disappointed you all. You pay your hard-earned money to assist us while we travel across the country, and we are unable to deliver and keep us safe.

“I’ve given this a lot of thought, and I’m personally very sorry for the situation we’ve found ourselves in.” We must accept responsibility for what has occurred, and we do. Leicester City is a fantastic club that, with due respect to the Championship, should always be performing well in the Premier League.

Despite being relegated on the last day, many City fans cheered the players as they exited the King Power Stadium pitch. For many, it was their final appearance in blue there.

If Barnes does leave this summer, he will have made 187 games for the club, beginning as a teenager in the Champions League in 2016. With 45 goals for the club, he is ranked 40th all-time.

There is anticipated to be a lot of Premier League interest in him, with Aston Villa and Newcastle now being the most heavily linked. Barnes’ contract with City is up in two years
