Leicester City could be forced to sell homegrown trio Hamza Choudhury, Ben Nelson and Sammy Braybrooke this summer, the Daily Mail has said.
Leicester City completed their return to the Premier League at the weekend and on Monday night, the Foxes wrapped up the Championship title.
Tensions have been high amid a dip in form in recent months but a routine away win against Preston North End ensured the Foxes will finish this dramatic season at the top of the pile.
While celebrations will rumble on for a little while yet, there are big moves to be made at the King Power.
The club have been in a tough position financially and could start next season with a points deduction as a result. They’ll also likely have to sell some notable assets early in the summer transfer window.
Now, the Daily Mail reports that three Leicester City players who could be sold are Hamza Choudhury, Ben Nelson and Sammy Braybrooke.
All three are homegrown and the club would be able to make good profits on them. That could go a long way in their bid to balance the books before the end of June.
Departures inevitable
It has long been clear that Leicester City will have to cash in on players this summer and upon the confirmation of their rise to the Premier League as champions, the focus will swiftly turn to raising funds this summer.
Choudhury has been a key asset this season. His versatility has seen him play in a number of roles for Enzo Maresca’s side while his combative play style and determination has helped him impress at Championship level.
As for Nelson and Braybrooke, both are promising youngsters who could definitely go on to follow in Choudhury’s footsteps to hold down a first-team role in the years to come.
However, as bright prospects who could be sold for good profit, it might be that Leicester City have no choice but to cash in.
There will no doubt be some hard goodbyes at the King Power Stadium this summer, it just remains to be be seen who moves on as they face a crucial couple of months after sealing the Championship title.
