Hot battle continue as Steve Cooper faces tricky Leicester City decision on one player this summer

The Leicester City midfielder’s future may be in doubt after Wilfred Ndidi committed his future to the club.

Steve Cooper had the predicament of a threadbare midfield ahead of the new Premier League campaign after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall signed for Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea.

However, he has looked towards the transfer market where he has shown interest in Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley, who is reportedly available for £50m.

Former Coventry City midfielder Callum O’Hare is also of interest to Cooper after his release from the Championship club this summer.

There were concerns at one point that Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi would move on after the expiration of his contract, however the 27-year-old has committed his future to the club after signing a new deal.

Ndidi will be crucial for Cooper’s plans ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season, however it could spell bad news for one midfielder whose future is in doubt at the club.

Steve Cooper must decide whether to keep Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury

Leicester City midfielder Ndidi signing a new contract at the club means that Cooper now has several options at his disposal in the centre of the park next season, including former Chelsea midfielder Michael Golding, who was signed earlier this summer.

Cooper may have to make difficult decisions on players in the squad, including the likes of Hamza Choudhury.

Choudhury was handed 15 starts last season, predominantly utilised at right-back as a result of the lack of depth in the position during the Championship campaign.

The last time Leicester City were in the Premier League in the 2022/23 campaign, the Englishman was loaned out to Watford in the Championship.
